Linsanity out
Throughout high school, I've learned many things.
Obviously, I've learned a lot of academic related topics (even though I probably forgot the contents of 90% of classes I took). But, as all seniors have been in the schooling system for some 13 years, I've learned a lot more than just courses I took.
I think starting from elementary school, I learned the value of relationships. At the time, the grade was split into small friend groups, and there wasn't really any big friend group. As such, I became very close with a small number of people. This dynamic taught me trust, reliability, and set up my relationship building in the future. In high school, I really became close with my mom and it proved to be very valuable. I learned countless things from her that I wouldn't exchange anything for.
Once I entered middle school, I learned what things actually matter. I remember really caring about my appearance and what phone I had, yet now looking back it all seems trivial. I don't remember much else from middle school because of the pandemic, but during quarantine I learned how to be self-accountable. It was the first time I had a great amount of freedom and time on my hands, and I learned to stay active and not let the time go to waste. I did my best to be productive even when no one was enforcing it.
High school is where I learned the most. From the start, I learned the importance of academics. Having an older brother who paved the way, I went into the high school with the intention of taking the hardest classes. This is where I was forced to be responsible for myself. My parents were never super enforcing on my grades. They rarely checked and only my mom asked me like once a month if I still had A's. I had to set aside my games and focus more on school.
Freshman year is where I learned how to learn. I was in AP Human Geography, and it was nothing like anything I've taken before. I had to devise new study methods and schedules for myself to stay on track.
In 9th grade we read Romeo and Juliet and it was my favorite play. I really enjoyed the themes of love, death, and fate.
Maybe the most important thing I've learned throughout high school is balance. I remember in freshman year I would sleep early every day. There was only one night where I slept past 12, and it was when I was working on a poetry presentation. In sophomore year around AP season, I slept before 10pm everyday because I knew the importance of sleep. However, now in senior year, I probably only slept before midnight a handful of times. I spend more times with my friends even if it ends late. I think even as a group, we began hanging out more and studying less. Afterall, in terms of GPA, there isn't a difference between a 99% course grade and a 91%, so there was no need to study all the time.
Another important lesson I learned is that nothing is ever that deep. Oftentimes in school, I remember being extremely stressed about something and wishing for it to end immediately. The sun always rises the next day and the world keeps spinning, and in the end everything ends up being fine. I learned to not stress over things I can't change.
Relating to the previous point, I learned the lesson of moving on. There is so much to life and it'd be a shame to be stuck up on any one thing. I learned to move on from people, bad test grades, embarrassing moments, and anything else causing stress.
Overall, school turned out to be pretty useful. Although there were some hard times and whatnot, there were many invaluable experiences and lessons that I'll continue to carry with more for a lifetime.
This ends my blogging journey. Peace...
